Before Listening Became Waiting
Before Listening Became Waiting
We often call it listening when we are really preparing our reply.
Waiting for a pause.
Collecting our defense.
Deciding what the other person must mean before they finish speaking.
But listening asks for something quieter.
It asks us to remain present long enough for another person’s words to arrive without immediately reshaping them into our own innerstanding.
To listen is not always to agree.
Sometimes it is simply to let someone finish existing inside their own truth before we enter it.
A word within: Listen
Not every silence is empty.
Some are making room.

The Pilot is a spiritual novel. It tells the tale of Nare and the people in her life. It explores the mysteries between earthly life and heaven. Separated by distance, even death, from those they love, it reveals how people hold onto hope of reunion.
