Every civilization that ever existed looked up and pointed at something.
The Sumerians called it Anu. The Yoruba called it Olodumare. The Lakota called it Wakan Tanka — the Great Mystery. The Egyptians described a deity so close to monotheism that scholars still argue about it. The Norse had a figure who hung on a tree, pierced, in search of wisdom. The Vedic tradition described a creator who existed before creation itself.
