Chapter 1

Jacob inherited a substantial amount of money when his grandmother passed away because he was her favorite. He always listened, helped out, and even sat with her when she moved into the nursing home.

But you might ask how such a good grandson ends up involved in human trafficking, and it all began at a cafe in Belize. The underworld has a way of finding you, and as he sat there enjoying a coffee and a roll, a woman approached him.

It was a seduction. They spent night after night making love, and one day Helena said, "I know a way to make you very wealthy, but you have to trust me." He did because Jacob was already spending his inheritance on Helena. To keep her, he needed more money, which was part of the scheme.

Helena got on the phone and arranged a meeting, and by the end of the week, he was brought to the home of Wilma Sanderson, an American expat who had helped the Belizean underworld, known in international circles. She didn't meet him in person but communicated through a voice alteration device that made her sound like a man.

She already had a file on him because when a wealthy visitor stays past a few months, such measures are taken—especially if you're orchestrating schemes to drain someone dry in more ways than one. Helena was doing just that.

First, basic questions were asked to gain trust, but then Wilma revealed her plan for Helena and Jacob: move to the "ghetto" and find her African American children, which she believed would bring her more money than she could imagine.

But trust needed to be earned. Jacob said, "Oh, that's the easy part: give them access to something they don't have, and that's college."

"We will start a scholarship fund, and even better, we will move into their neighborhood."

And that was how it all started.
