Smoke & Soul BBQ Cookbook
Fire. Meat. Patience. Love.
BBQ is not about having the most expensive smoker or some secret ingredient your granddaddy whispered to you on his deathbed. It is about showing up early, getting the fire right, and trusting the process while the smoke does its magic.
In Smoke & Soul, Dr. Christopher D. Pritchard, D.D. — Buffalo native, Marine Corps veteran, and lifelong pitmaster — shares everything he has learned about real backyard BBQ, written the way he would tell it to you standing next to him with a cold drink in your hand. No pretension. No gatekeeping. Just good food, honest techniques, and recipes that actually work.
Inside you will find 51 original recipes:…

The Last Round
Three brothers learned golf the same way they learned life: from their dad, a Buffalo working man with secondhand clubs, endless patience, and a rule for everything. Now Dad has been gone five years, and Scott — the youngest, the joyful one, the one with the beautiful swing — is gone too, his ashes resting on the North Carolina course he loved, exactly where he asked to be. So Tim tees it up at Scott's course to play one more round for all of them, while Chris walks beside him and keeps the card. Hole by hole, the round becomes the story of a family — and on the eighteenth tee, Tim takes out two balls.

PLENTY OF ROOM
There is a hat for every kind of person — and a chair for every one of them.
In sixty-six poems and reflections, Dr. Christopher D. Pritchard, D.D. writes for the doubter, the soldier, the mother awake at three in the morning, the one who wandered off, the one in the back pew, and the one carrying more than they can hold. Each poem is a welcome: come as you are, bring your doubt, bring your song. Because the house of God is wider than our fear, the table longer than our pride, and there are still empty chairs for every soul still out in the night.
One God. A lot of hats. Plenty of room.
