Christina Lane runs the best truck stop in the region — until one night in the walk-in cooler costs her everything. Caught with a subordinate by the district manager who came to talk promotion, she is given a choice: resign, or take a demotion to the graveyard shift at Mile Marker 47, a stop two hours from anywhere. On the night shift she starts noticing things that don't add up: product going missing off the trucks, drivers talking too freely at the lunch counter, and a ring of thieves working the lot in the dark.
