The Dragon Beyond the Sky.
The Dragon Beyond the Sky is a short, complete dark-fantasy story by Dillon Riley, published on Wattpad in September 2026. It is tagged as fiction, survival, action/thriller, and dark fantasy, and it runs as a single part.
On the planet Veyra, a world lit by three moons, astronomer Dr. Evelyn Cross detects something approaching from deep space. It is not a comet, an asteroid, or a ship. It is a living dragon of impossible scale: a black-scaled body larger than continents, golden eyes bigger than cities, wings that blot out the stars. Nuclear weapons, fleets, and every other human response do nothing. After eleven months of dread, the dragon arrives and simply closes its jaws around the entire planet.
Veyra is not destroyed in the swallowing. Inside the dragon’s vast digestive chamber, the world stays largely intact beneath a living, pulsing red sky. Survivors adapt. They farm nutrients drawn from the dragon’s own body and build a fragile civilization they call The Hollow. For decades they endure, raising children who have never seen the original sky.
Then digestion begins. Corrosive rain falls from the membranes overhead, slowly dissolving forests, oceans, mountains, and cities. Over generations the planet is consumed from the outside in. The last survivors retreat underground until even those shelters melt away. Every living thing, every stone, and every memory of Veyra is absorbed into the dragon. Satisfied, the creature continues through the void.
The piece is cosmic horror more than adventure: a planet-scale creature that cannot be fought, a brief human adaptation inside its body, and a slow, total erasure. There is no widely published print novel under this exact title; the Wattpad story is the work that matches the name.
