The Obsidian Eclipse
Some mirrors remember every face that has ever looked into them. This one has been waiting for yours.
In 1938, archaeologist Henry Voss uncovered a black obsidian tablet etched with stars on a hillside above Tiryns. Two days later, the hillside came down on him.
In 1988, his son Marcus went looking for the missing half. Another hillside. Another accident.
Now Dr Elena Voss has found it.
On a rescue dig in the Greek countryside, her brush touches something that rings like a fingernail on a wine glass. The tablet completes her grandfather’s star map: an alignment that returns once in twenty-six thousand years, and it is almost here.
But someone has opened her safe using her grandfather’s year. Someone is sending her photographs. And the men who wanted the mirror in 1938 have grandsons.
From the vineyards of the Argolid to the dream-temple of Epidaurus and a drowned chamber beneath the Aegean, Elena is drawn towards the sacred island of Delos. There, the world’s richest buyers are gathering under the equinox stars, and the black glass is waiting to be looked into.
Because the mirror does not only show you the stars. It shows you to something that has been waiting in the dark since before the first fire.
And once you have been seen, you cannot be unseen.
The Obsidian Eclipse is Book One of the Shadows of Primordia series: archaeological horror for readers who like their ancient history dark, their thrillers fast and their horror slow-creeping.
