Where Biography Ends and Fiction Begins

Where Biography Ends and Fiction Begins

Writing The Elvis I Wish I Knew With Both Truth and Imagination
One of the most fascinating challenges in writing about Elvis Presley is deciding where the line sits between what happened and what might have happened. Anyone who has spent time with Elvis’s story knows how much of his life is already wrapped in myth, memory, and interpretation. Even the most rigorous biographies rely on recollections, interviews, and fragments of truth filtered through the people who loved him, worked with him, or simply watched him from afar.
When I began shaping The Elvis I Wish I Knew, I found myself returning to a simple question: how do you honour the real man while exploring the life he never had the chance to live?

    The pull of biography…

Themes of The Offer, by J K Mullins

    The Offer

Some experiences stay with you because they challenge how you think about leadership, ambition, and the responsibility we carry for the people around us.
The Offer grew from a real situation that forced me to look closely at how ego, unchecked drive, and silence can shape outcomes far beyond what we intend.
I transformed that experience into fiction, but the underlying questions remain the same:
What does ambition look like when it is uncontrolled, and what does it look like when it is healthy?

    The Offer

When the stakes are highest, one offer reveals who leads with integrity… and who doesn’t.
Leadership often looks steady until pressure exposes the decisions made quietly along the way. That moment when integrity is tested and ambition meets consequence is at the heart of The Offer.

The Elvis I Wish I Knew

It was a different time, full of opportunity, freedom, and dangers no one yet understood. Some rose with it. Some were consumed by it.
If society had known then what we know now, how different things might have been.
The Elvis I Wish I Knew explores the alternative path the world never saw.
