What happens if my book is prohibited (or suddenly becomes prohibited) in certain countries due to local laws?

If a book is prohibited in certain countries, it cannot be automatically blocked on our platform.

However, if a book is flagged for violating legal or regulatory requirements in a specific country, Written will comply with applicable laws. For example, if a government or legal authority submits a takedown request regarding prohibited content, the Written support team will review the claim. In cases where the content is found to violate local laws (such as hate speech, defamation, or the promotion of violence), Written may remove the book from our showcase or make it undiscoverable through search in order to comply with regulations.

In simple terms: we can’t guarantee that a book will remain visible or searchable on our platform in all regions. However, once a book is published, it remains published—even if taken down from our showcase—and that process cannot be undone. It's similar to how printed books continue to exist, even if they're pulled from store shelves.

Content on Written is not centrally controlled or globally censored. We strongly encourage authors to stay informed about regional laws and restrictions, as authors are fully responsible for all content they publish on Written.
