In the summer of 1971, Eddie Granger, an ambitious eighteen-year-old from northern Indiana, works at his father’s Chevrolet dealership and dreams of freedom. For his birthday, he’s given the ultimate symbol of success, a brand-new 1972 Z28 Camaro. He proudly drives it to football practice, turning heads among teammates. But admiration quickly turns to envy, particularly from Tommy Holt, whose father, Sergeant Frank Holt, is a respected Indiana State Police officer.
Tommy’s girlfriend, Lisa Morton, is bright, kind, and planning a future with Tommy after graduation. When Eddie and Lisa strike up an innocent friendship that grows into something deeper, it sparks quiet resentment within Tommy, and his father’s disapproval. One humid August night, Eddie and Lisa take the Camaro to the woods near Holt’s parents’ farm, where passion and youth collide.
