    Description

What happens when home becomes a place you can no longer return to?
The Land Between Flags is an emotional story of displacement, survival, and hope inspired by the experiences of Bhutanese refugees of Nepali origin.
Arun grows up in southern Bhutan surrounded by family, familiar hills, and the belief that his home will always be there. But when fear and uncertainty begin changing life around him, his family is forced to leave everything they know behind.
Their journey takes them to Nepal, where what was supposed to be a temporary stay becomes years of life in a refugee camp. Behind bamboo walls, the family grows, struggles, remembers, and waits for the chance to begin again.
Eventually, that chance takes them across the world to America.
But reaching America doesn’t erase the past. Arun and his family must learn a new language, find work, adapt to a different culture, and discover what it means to belong to more than one place.
The Land Between Flags is a story about family, identity, sacrifice, memory, and the courage to rebuild after losing home.
Some borders divide countries. Others remain inside us.
