Artificial Intelligence, often called AI, is the craft of teaching machines to think, learn, and make decisions in ways that resemble human intelligence. Instead of simply following rigid instructions, AI systems can analyse data, recognise patterns, and improve over time. At its core, AI blends mathematics, computer science, and insights from human behaviour to create systems that can solve problems, from recommending movies to diagnosing diseases.
There are different forms of AI. Narrow AI focuses on specific tasks, like voice assistants or image recognition, while more advanced concepts aim for general intelligence that could handle a wide range of thinking tasks. Techniques such as machine learning and neural networks allow computers to learn from experience rather than being explicitly programmed.
AI is now woven into everyday life, powering search engines, smart devices, and business tools. As it evolves, it offers great potential, but also raises important questions about ethics, privacy, and the future of human work.
